We’ll have 130+ medios out on Lexington for the second practice round and we have the whole course to ourselves, so it’s nobody’s fault but ours if pace of play is slow (a little leeway will always be granted if you’re using that extra time to fix your fucking ballmarks).

BUS PICKUP FROM DOWNTOWN GRAND

There will be two 56-passenger busses (and some vans) taking us to Revere at 6:30. They will leave from 3rd Street, just outside the doors by the front desk. Probably. I mean, they should leave from there.

Masks are optional this year. Our volunteers will have some available if you’d like one.

PAIRINGS

It’s a shotgun start at 8 AM. Pairings were set by a random number generator, so have fun getting to know other medios from across the country!

The pairings will be on the carts and there will be course staff to help you find your cart, but you can also check them out yourself at the bottom of this page.

TEE BOXES

The MGAWC tee markers are out there on the course (placed by Tessa and the volunteers) and will be a fair approximation of where we will be playing from (mostly gold tees) for the main event. However, El Presidente is going to drive around tomorrow and may make some minor tweaks, so don’t fall in love with any of them.

As a reminder, anyone whose entire MGA handicap and competition history for 2022 is based on senior tees, may play up at the next set of marked tees in front of the MGAWC markers (that means mostly Silvers).

Any ladies whose entire MGA handicap and competition history for 2022 is based on ladies tees, may play the Bronze tees.

FOOD AT THE COURSE

There is no lunch box or drink tickets included Thursday, so plan accordingly. There will be cart girls. I also believe the bar and restaurant will be open in the morning, but post-round we will need to stay out on the deck where the cart return is. They’ve promised to leave a beverage cart or two out there for us so we don’t get thirsty.

CLUB STORAGE

If you are playing in the MGAWC (and not the Born Hairy), you have the option to leave your clubs at Revere overnight. Get a revere hang tag from the employees and label your bag.

If you do choose to leave your clubs, you are leaving them at your own risk. If they disappear or you don’t show up the last day to take them home, the MGA is not responsible. We’ve never had any issues in the past at Revere, but consider yourself warned.

Born Hairy players must take their clubs back to the hotel, because they’re going to play at Arroyo on Friday.

BUS TO HOTEL POST-ROUND

The busses will load up and head back to the hotel around 1:30. That is unless we have a bunch of SSSLUUUUGGGGSSS out there.

THURSDAY NIGHT MEET ‘N DRINK

We will officially kick off this weekend of extreme mediocrity at 8 PM on the pool deck at the Downtown Grand. Each registered player will get two drink tickets (to be picked up at the party) and guests are welcome to come and spend their hard earned money at the bar. We will even have El Presidente and “Straight” Willie Dills specialty cocktails, available for the low, low price of 1 drink ticket (so you know they’re good).

There will be a live band for your entertainment (not Clownvis) and then Co-Founders El Presidente and “Straight” Willie Dills will take the stage to welcome everyone and award one lucky Chapter Leader a Lifetime Membership! We will also be announcing the matchups for the Medio Cup (SFMGA vs. The World) before putting you all to bed at a reasonable hour so everyone is well-rested and clear-eyed for round 1.

AFTER PARTY AND GO-TO HANG SPOT

We don’t really have one established yet, but I’ll keep you posted if I hear of anything. Last year I enjoyed hanging at the Gold Spike Backyard Playground area, but I honestly haven’t explored much yet this year. As soon as I publish this story I’m going to head over to Gold Spike and check it out. If you walk out the door at valet, you can see their string lighting across the street.
