LAS VEGAS, NV – The weather was ideal today for round 1 of the MGA World Championship and the Born Hairy Tour Championship. Medios from around the World gave it everything they had and statistically speaking, it was inevitable that at least a couple of them had to do pretty damn well.
Leading the pretty damn good charge at the World Championship was Martin Haas from Austin, who shot a stellar 83 to lead by two strokes over San Francisco’s Rob Kristie and 2019 World Champ Dan Butz.
Matt Winkler from Cincinnati and Kevin Fallehy from Oakland were a little too good today, shooting 75 and 79 respectively and promptly DQing themselves from the event. They should have a nice li’l battle for the Gross Award from here, but still, go join the Korn Ferry Tour… assholes.
Over at The Legacy, the Born Hairy competitors laid the groundwork for their 2025 run at The Belt. The top 16 finishers in the Born Hairy tomorrow will clinch the first 16 qualified spots for MGAWC25.
Leading the way after round 1 is Hayden Lewis from Tampa, with an impressive 86. Lewis holds a comfortable five stroke margin to West Valley’s Average Johnson in second place and a VERY comfortable 15 stroke margin to the 16th place cut line.
Currently on that cut line after shooting 101s are Cleveland’s Jory Graham, Los Angeles’s’s’s Chris Morrow and Grand Rapid’s Mike Beisel.
Conditions today were perfect. Tomorrow will be cooler and windier, so it’s anyone’s guess as to what will happen to the golf scores out there. We find that Mediocre golfer’s scores aren’t typically tied to facts, figures or logic.
The Medio Cup (SF vs. The World) took place today and results from that will be revealed at the Tuesday Night Awards Ceremony.
