THE INTERNET, CA – In a shocking turn of events, El Presidente has decided to announce the Medio Cup field ahead of time this year. Typically he would wait until the morning of round 1, when a few guys come up to him and ask why they’re not on the cart assignment list. He would then inform them that they’re playing in the Medio Cup, to which they would respond, “What’s that?”. So yea, the event is a kinda big deal.
This year however, a couple medios have been pestering El Presidente about The Cup, so perhaps there is a little more interest than usual due to the utter dominance by the SF Chapter last year.
The SF Captain this year is MGA Legend and proud member of the All16 Club Bobby Giosso. He earned the Captaincy in dramatic fashion on the 18th hole of the SFMGA Last Gasp. After pulling his drive left and behind a tree, Bobby G flipped his club over and punched out of the roots left handed. He then went up and down from 90 yards for a mirdie to secure just enough pocket change to win the money title by “$”000000000.01 over Allen Hwang. It was a story for the ages that will never be forgotten.
The World Captain is Dakota Gillam. He is from Des Moines. He plays golf.
The top 10 attending players from the original MGA Chapter will take on the top 10 players from around The World in a Ryder Cup style event. Each team gets two Captain’s picks as well.
Bobby G picked MGA Co-Founder “Straight” Willie Dills and Scott Sanders, both of whom tend to shine at Revere.
Gillam picked fellow Des Moinesian and fantastic name-haver Rylee VanDeBoe. The final member of the team is Cleveland’s Jeff Loga, in an effort to see if the largest chapter in the MGA actually has any good golfers in it.

The Medio Cup takes place during round 1 and then rumors swirl for the next 24 hours until the official results are revealed at the closing ceremonies Tuesday night. Only time will tell if SF can gather the 5 points to retain or if the World will get the 5.5 needed to take back The Cup!
