MGAWC24: Know Before You Go

THE INTERNET, CA – We are incredibly close to kicking off this grand experiment of a weekday World Championship and we are stoked 340 of you are down to give it a try! We think it’s going to give it the event a real vacation feel and that somehow, against all odds, will make the MGAWC even better in this, our 15th attempt.

This site is the one-stop-shop for all MGAWC24 information. If it’s on here, it’s kinda official. If it’s not on here, please send El Presidente a message, because he probably forgot to post whatever it is you’re looking for.

This is the place to find fields, schedules, pairings and results. Make sure to check the news feed too for the daily “Notes and info” post, which will include any late-breaking information for the day.

This is the official event hashtag and Instagram is our preferred social media.

We encourage Born Hairy participants to use this same hashtag as we are all one big dysfunctional family. But if you want to be Born Hairy strong and do your own thing, we recommend #BHTC24.

INTRODUCTIONS

The proper way to introduce yourself is “I’m (insert full name) from (insert chapter)MGA.”

You should probably do this even if you’ve partied with the person at the previous 14 MGAWCs, because names are hard and Vegas memories are shrouded in a haze like no other.

THE WEATHER

It looks like it’s going to be pretty damn nice!

High 60s and low 70s for our golf, but then falling into the 50s at night (coincidentally when our Sunday Night Party and Tuesday Awards Ceremony will be taking place).

AIRPORT TRANSPORT

You’ll be shocked to learn the Downtown Grand STILL does not have a complimentary shuttle from the airport. (We’d settle for a working escalator at this point)

There is a however, a $6 bus that will drop you two blocks from the hotel (4th and Carson). It will take a little planning on your part, but here’s the link if this sort of thing is your jam.

HOTEL

You will need a credit card at check-in for a $100 incidental hold, but there shouldn’t be any additional charges or fees beyond that. You will need to check in at the counter and not the kiosk, because you don’t have your confirmation number from the Downtown Grand.

If you have any issues, please text El Presidente at (415) 215-0839 and for the love of god, tell him your full name when you text him, so he has at least one clue to solve the mystery of how you screwed things up.

TEE BOXES

The tee boxes for the field at both the WC and the Born Hairy will be marked with our own custom tee markers. We are going to shorten things up this year after hearing from quite a few people last year about how long the course played. Maybe that will get our rounds under 7 hours…

The custom markers likely won’t be out for the practice round, but just know that most of our markers will end up at the Silver tees on Revere, with a few Golds mixed in. Medios at The Legacy will be playing the White tees.

SENIORS – Any medios who play from the senior tees at their home events and have their entire MGA handicap based on those tees, may move forward from our custom tee markers to the next set of marked tees (whatever color those may be) and tee off from there.

LADIES – Any ladies who play from the forward tees at their home events and have their entire MGA handicap based on those tees, may tee off from the Bronze tees at Revere or the Yellow tees at The Legacy.

PAIRINGS

We can’t honor any special requests when it comes to pairings, as that would quickly become the slipperiest slope in all of mankind.

Pairings will be set as follows:

Sunday – Pairings at Revere are random and your name will be on a cart. Pairings at Legacy are made based on the order you signed up and will be available on the schedule page.

Monday – Pairings are set by Global Money ranking.

Tuesday – Pairings near the front are set using the finishing order from round one. Pairing in the back of the bus might be randomized a bit for pace of play.

Wednesday – Pairings are random, with the only rule being that 4 people from the same chapter will not be paired together.
