THE INTERNET, CA – In what will definitely be the biggest news of the week, we are finally ready to announce the cut line for the 2024 MGA World Championship. We’re SURE that all of you read the eligibility and qualification rules before signing up… but in case you didn’t, here’s a recap.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible to play in the MGAWC, you must have at least 5 career MGA events under your belt, with at least 3 of them coming in this current season. If you fall short of either of those, you’re playing in the Born Hairy, regardless of whether you “qualified” below. We do this to make sure your handicap is as accurate as possible before we let you play for The Belt.

QUALIFICATION

There are multiple ways you can qualify for the World Championship. We have 288 spots available and award them to these medios first before letting in the lucky dogs.

1. The 47 Chapter Leaders who registered are the first qualifiers, because they make the MGA happen and they will always get a spot in the finals if they want it.

2. Tournament winners* are next in, because winning an MGA event is a big deal and it means you deserve a shot at The Belt. 121 registered medios got at least 1 win this year. (You can stop your stress addition right now though, because some of the CLs might be in that total).

3. Top 10 on your Chapter Money List* gets you in. You clearly showed up a lot and we appreciate that. 198 registered medios achieved this feat.

4. Past World Champs and Global Money Champs get 5-year qualified status. Registered medios who could qualify this way are WCs Christian Medina, Dan Butz, Paul Zambrano and GMCs Kevin Thompson and Mike Robin.

5. Finish top 16 in the previous year’s Born Hairy tournament. A solid 11 of last year’s top 16 in the Born Hairy are back to play in this year’s WC field!

*Both must be in your home chapter. No preying on small, weak chapters you douche bag!

LUCKY DOGS

So far, we’ve managed to avoid having more eligible+qualified players than available spots, which means we always have space available to squeeze some more lucky Medios into the World Championship.

We do this by working our way down the Chapter Money Lists until we have a full field, i.e., all medios who finished 11th on their CML get in, then all players who finished 12th get in, and so on. Any eligible medio who lucks into one of the spots, is now qualified to compete for The Belt!

The past few years, this cut line has fallen around the 15th-16th spot on the Chapter Money List. This year, with a smaller overall field of 342 medios, the cut line is….. 24th!

So if you finished 24th or higher on your CML, congratulations, you are playing for The Belt! If you finished 25th or lower, or you failed to meet the eligibility requirements, you’ll be playing in the Born Hairy, looking to be one of the first to lock in a qualified spot for MGAWC25.
